Advent | A Children's Book Each Night - The Simple Proof Christmas

Counting down the 26 days of Advent with a children’s book each night has become the heart of our family’s Advent Tradition.  Before Advent begins, I select enough Christmas books to read one together every night of Advent. After individually wrap each book, I place them in a basket.  Each night of Advent our children take turns choosing a wrapped “present” of a Christmas book for us all to enjoy together.  As my kids get older I look forward to these moments more than ever.  There aren’t many occasions when I can sit and read a loud to my 12 year old these days.  Each year I hold my breath a little that it might be the last year my oldest will still take part in this cozy tradition of ours.  I have saved up quite a few books over the years so I can pick and choose which ones to include each year and try to find one or two new stories to add to the mix as well.  I’ve listed our top 10 favorites for you below.  Add these to an online cart and shipped directly to you just in time to wrap for the first night of Advent, November 29th.  I hope this inspires you to carve out a few quiet moments with your kids to savor in the spirit of Christmas.  A touch of fireside hot cocoa helps too.

  1. Love your posts and happy that my family still has this book tradition. Since I have 2 middle schoolers, I thought that this practice may fall off our list. When I asked if they wanted to switch things up at all, my daughters were aghast. It seems we all still love to have a quiet time together at the end of each day in December to read a Christmas story in the glow of our Christmas tree.
