Artist | Hugh Wiley

I first came across modern American artist, Hugh Wiley last year.  I was fascinated by the breadth of his work.  His portfolio includes, line drawings, abstract watercolors, sculpture and mixed media on wood panels.  Unless you have studied his work, one would never know these pieces were from the same artist. It’s incredible to me, a non-artist, how an artist can create such varied expressions of their creativity. Each of Hugh Wiley’s works speaks to me differently yet with equal power. I’d love to have one of his work in our home.

Hugh Wiley was born in Indiana, but lived most of the last 50 years of his life in Northern California. Today, we are fortunate to be able to find a large collection of his work locally at Lost Art Salon here in San Francisco.  This is a terrific resource for those interested in fine Modern American Art and significant artists of our time.  I hope you enjoy the work of artist Hugh Wiley as much as I do. If you have an artist you’d like to see featured, let us know!

To view an extraordinary collection of Modern and Contemporary American Art, I highly recommend a visit to The Anderson Collection at Stanford University.
