Monday Mindset

What fills your soul over the weekend that leaves you ready for a new week?  Is it time with girl friends?  Time spent outdoors?  Long gourmet dinners?  Sunday morning snuggles?  Whatever it is for you, I hope you had an abundance of it this weekend.

We had fun with lots of family time.  We began the weekend with a special evening on the field of the SF Giants stadium.  My husband and I shared this fun date with our 11 year old son who was so psyched to be amongst all the big leaguers right down on the field.  He was able to get an autograph from one of his favorite players, whose jersey he happened to be wearing!  Watching this through his eyes was a parent’s delight.  He generally isn’t a fan of crowds and pushing himself into a situation like clamoring for autographs, but when the stakes were high, like getting a ball signed by your current favorite player, he dug deep and went after what he wanted. To some parents of 11 year old boys, this might not seem like a big deal.  To us, we saw a boy courageously make a big step in maturity and confidence.  That is a sight for any parent’s eyes!

Saturday lent itself to the typical run around with bike races, soccer games, ballet rehearsals, yada yada yada. Luckily the day ended with a family dinner and movie on the big screen together.  Just what we all needed after a very busy week.  After borrowing a friend’s movie projector a few times we finally bought one of our own a few weeks ago.  It’s been so fun to have.  We used it for a Boy’s Night movie and campout for my son’s birthday.  And this weekend, we watched Chasing Maverick’s as a family.  A really great movie, especially on the big screen outside.  What was even better was having my family all snuggled together on the outdoor sofa under down blankets.  My youngest fell asleep holding my middle’s hands which melted my heart after watching them compete and bicker all day!  A good reminder that indeed siblings will fight, but when love is in your home, at the core of it all, they do love one another even if it’s not always easy to see. Here’s the movie projectorwe bought in case you are interested in one, we’ve been really happy with it and look forward to many more outdoor family movie nights!

Hope you all had a great weekend and a productive fun week ahead!
