I’m on Day 3 of a wonderful journey for myself. I’ve always been an avid fitness enthusiast. I typically work out 6 days a week and love it. That and eating well most of the time has always been enough for me to maintain a healthy body weight for me. Well, this year has been different. I have had to work equally as hard at merely maintaining my weight while trying not to put on additional pounds let alone shedding the last of the weight I put on during my 3rd pregnancy. Ugh!

Is it my type of exercise?
Is it what I’m putting in my body or for that matter what I’m not putting in my body?
Enter a couple of recent posts by Modern Parents Messy Kids. They first introduced the New Year New Rules Team last month when Round 1 began. I was intrigued. More energy? Better skin? More stamina? check. check. and check! Sounded like they were already inside my head. Then came post #2 when the team at New Year New Rules was offering their 15 day online course for round 2. I signed up without hesitation. Why? I watched this video and realized a detox is just what my body needed.
I needed to conclude once and for all, for me, if gluten free or dairy free means something to my body and how it operates. For me, the toughest part of the detox was not going to be eliminating alcohol or caffeine from my diet for 15 days but having never been gluten free or dairy free – that would be the real challenge. You see, this could be the very reason I’ve had this weight-loss resistance. The very root of why I’m exhausted and falling asleep at 9pm. It was time for my detox. And these ladies are the best!

Green Detox Smoothie via New Year New Rules
2 c. kale
1 c. almond milk (unsweetened)
1/2 orange, peeled
handful of frozen strawberries
sprinkle of stevia
1tbsp Chia seeds
protein powder (optional)
