Welcome to The Simple Proof

the simple proofIf you came here looking for A Bowl Full of Simple, you are in the right place.  The Simple Proof is the new name for A Bowl Full of Simple and even though things definitely look different around here today you are in for a real treat.  Both the name of the site and the design of the site have changed.  Everything that you know and enjoy about the content are the same, well not completely the same, some things are so much better!

I’ve been blogging here for more than 2 years with well over 300 blog posts published, but I felt that it was time to mix things up a bit.  Change is critical to inspiration and growth.  This change has added a renewed vigor and inspiration for my little corner of the web.  While spending a lot of time digging deep, cliché but true, I’ve uncovered a clear vision of what I love to write about, what inspires me and others and what to leave to the experts.

When I started writing here, I did not know the very first thing about managing a website.  I decided to jump in and learn as I went.  When you start a blog you need a name and you need it quick.  I knew it would always express simplicity, keeping life simple and straightforward and living with intent. At the time, I thought the site may hover solely around food and cooking.  In the past 2 1/2 years this site and I have grown to include so much more.  I love sharing travel tips for family’s to go on adventures together whether they are big and small, close to home or far away.  I love sharing beautiful simple ideas on home decor and garden, or simple style for moms.  Much broader topics than I first imagined.  The name never sat well with me.  Aside from being a mouthful, I was constantly asked  to repeat the name, so annoying.  I also felt it indicated a food blog.  And let’s face it, if you talk with almost any blogger about the name of their site, chances are they’d like to change it too!  The thing is, when you start writing a blog, you don’t actually think anyone is going to read it aside from your parents so when readers and brands start identifying you with your blog name, you better be “willing to wear that t-shirt,” (Adam Lehman, The Wonder Jam)

I wanted a cleaner more easily navigable design.  I wanted a site where you can find recipes and travel ideas as easily as the day’s lead post.  I was committed to making it a pleasure for my long time readers as well as intriguing for new readers.  I wanted the homepage to look like I feel and the categories to be clear and conveniently accessed.  I wanted the layout to showcase all the content that resides on the site and not be buried under 100s of posts.  The same categories are here, all the older posts you already know and refer back to will remain as well.  Over time I will be layering in featured articles you can expect to see on a more regular basis.  Articles on travel with and without kids, home inspiration, DIY for the non-diyers, food + drink ideas to keep your family menus changing, and simple proof that entertaining can be simple and beautiful.

One of the new features I am particularly excited about is The Simple Proof Shop.  I am always asked for recommendations about a range of products from the best new cookbooks to my favorite sunscreen.  It will be a place where I can connect you with smaller makers and designers you may not already be familiar. These are often American Made products + small businesses you can be proud to support.  The shop will be a place for me to add product recommendations without them overwhelming your experience reading a post. This will allow me to use affiliate links that help me do the work I do.  These brands offer me a very small commission on product sales.  Products I mention on The Simple Proof have never, and you can be assured, will never be products I don’t genuinely love or use myself.  Each product is curated by me and only me.  I am not obliged to list anything in my shop I do not feel aligns authentically with my brand aesthetic.

So, how did this all come together?  I worked with an amazing husband wife team at The Wonder Jam.  I originally read about them while reading a blog post on a favorite site, Hither & Tither written by Ashley Muir Bruhn.  She writes a column called The Work We Do which featured Allie and Adam.  After contacting them, I found out they wanted to work with me too!  Adam is amazing at helping you sort through goals and define intentions.  Allie is a design and graphic star!  I could not have done this without them and the assistance of their developer working behind the scenes.  Thank you does not do it justice.

Please, let me know what you think!  I hope you enjoy the new reader experience.  I was thinking about you the entire time while executing each design decision.  I really hope you love the end product as much as I do. Thank you for being loyal readers and if you are new here, Welcome to The Simple Proof!
