Room Inspiration | Outdoor Kitchens

Outdoor Kitchen TitleWhen we remolded our home 6 years ago, we, I ran out of steam. I couldn’t make another decision or pay another bill.  I didn’t want to buy furniture or complete the finishing touches that make a house a home.  This past year or so, I’ve been trying to complete a few of those projects that either never quite got finished or that I never liked how they turned out.  One of these projects is an outdoor kitchen area.  We live in California and can pretty much guarantee outdoor dining 7 months of the year and sometimes more.  With that leads to lots of grilling and my desire to have just as pretty of a spot to entertain outdoors as indoors.  The last piece to this outdoor puzzle is a small kitchen.  I have looked and looked online and in magazines for inspiration here and am always coming up short.  Seems most outdoor kitchens are much larger, covered and fully loaded compared to the one I envision for a little corner of our yard.  I’ve rounded up a few here today. Each has a feature I’d love to incorporate into ours someday.

What I’m hoping for:

  • concrete (durable since our kitchen will not be covered)
  • open shelving
  • large grill
  • clean simple shape and lines
  • a cut-out to fill with ice for drinks at parties
  • cut wood (obviously)

Debating on:

  • sink
  • fridge
  • stove burner
  • dishwasher

Do you have a small outdoor kitchen you love? Have you seen any inspirational outdoor kitchens? What would you add to your ideal design? Hopefully ours will be completed in time for next summer!
