Where to Eat | San Francisco

a bowl full of simple

We’ve been spending more time than usual in San Francisco lately, which always makes me really happy! Thought it’d be fun to list some of our current faves in case you are in SF looking for a fab spot to dine.  This list is by no means exhaustive and includes all types of meals.  All opinions are my own.

Cocktails

Trick Dog is one of the Mission District’s best new spots.  Opened just a few months ago and already on the Bay Area’s Top 100 list, this is a must hit when in The City.  I had an amazing, new to me cocktail called “Baby Turtle.”  I haven’t stopped talking about.  Their cocktail menu is printed in a pantone color fan book that matches their barstools.  The vibe is cozy cool and the cocktails are top notch.  We ordered the pickled veggie plate which was spot on delicious with our drinks.  We were celebrating birthdays of close friends who made the fantastic recommendation.

Dinner – neighborhood casual

Local’s Corner in the Mission District focusses on you guessed it, local food.  With a spotlight on seafood.  A wonderful place to gather with friends or a dinner for two.  Don’t miss the oysters, the trout tartar with beets, or the butterbeans with chard.  Don’t be turned off by the fact that they don’t serve dessert.  You won’t miss it!

Dinner – upscale gastronomy

Ever since Quince opened in its current location in the Jackson Square neighborhood in 2009, it’s been on my culinary bucket list.  Recently we were guests at a dear friend’s celebration that left us quite speechless.  The appetizers were incredible miniature little packages hand selected for our evening as was every other detail by our gracious host and event staff at Quince.  There wasn’t a detail left unturned.  The risotto was out of this world.  I would recommend more like the Dirty Girl Farm Strawberry dessert {OH my!} but their menu does change frequently.  If you are looking for a truly exceptional dining experience, I would highly recommend Quince.  So grateful.

Weekend Brunch

Plow, in Potrero Hill is one of those places you wish was on your corner.  It’s casual, fresh, delicious, and yup! simple.  The menu is short and sweet with something for everyone.  They were incredibly accommodating with special requests.  I highly recommend the ‘plow breakfast.’  I substituted out the crispy potatoes for salad greens and the eggs for egg whites.  Their housemade sausage is full of flavor with a kick! and the Lemon Ricotta pancakes, OH my.  Try them!  Great coffee, great vibe, and music from my childhood like Creedence and The Beatles, what more could you ask for on a Sunday morning really??
