I love when I get to meet creative folks I follow online, in person. It’s one of the best parts about social media today. Instagram in particular, allows one to discover people all over the world doing what they love. I have found unique products and been wowed by some extremely talented people. Along with powerful smartphone cameras, it has also allowed most anyone to become an amateur photographer, snapping pics of everyday life and setting them into little squares to inspire others.
I have been following Linda Fahey for the past 18 months or so. She creates the most lovely ceramics in her studio in the small coastal town of Pacifica just south of San Francisco. I couldn’t wait to get over to her studio and shop. I wanted to meet the woman not only behind the gorgeous bowls and platters, but the one who believes in small town Pacifica enough to set up shop in a somewhat isolated part of the Bay Area. I thought, this gal must love the sea as much as I do.
Yonder is a high curated collection that embodies her perspective as an artist. Each piece is personally sourced by Linda. She purposefully only includes small runs of items to keep things fresh and new. With most every product, she knows the artist and their story personally. I recently had the chance to speak with her about her work and her Pacifica storefront. In addition to the shop is her studio and collaborative workspace. She holds creative workshops herself and invites other artists of all sorts to hold intimate small scale workshops as well.
She is really on to something beautiful. I for one cannot wait to see where she’s headed. I hope her creative enthusiasm spreads throughout Pacifica and to other small towns dotting the SF peninsula. Thank you for sharing your space with us Linda.
You can find Linda’s work at two of my favorites:
