We spent 2 days in Portland, Oregon this summer, our last stop on our Pacific Northwest Roadtrip. I hadn’t been to Portland in years and was excited to see how the city has grown and changed. If you like to shop and eat, PDX is the town for you. The kids and I spent one day walking all over the city popping into little shops and eating our way through two downtown neighborhoods. We made three separate trips to Powell’s Bookstore alone during our two days in the City of Roses. Our recommendations for where to eat, shop, and stay are below. I would love to add your favorites to our list for our next visit to Portland, please share in the comments.

All the years of hiking has really paid off with these kids. It’s equal pleasure to explore cities and nature with them. I love that bookstores have become a travel destination for us in any town big or small. Books are some of our favorite souvenirs and Portland in home to the best bookstore I’ve ever seen. Biggest takeaway from Portland is that they have an insane food truck scene, especially The Pearl District. Don’t miss spending some time along SE Division Street for some amazing food and independent shops specializing in local products. If you have time to venture outside of the city, I would head to the Columbia River Gorge or the Mt. Hood National Forest for some outdoor adventuring.
