This year I’ve been working on a little personal experiment I like to call “Heck Ya!” I have been trying to be more self-aware of when opportunities present themselves, where I would have formerly thought them over, decided how they could or could’t fit into my schedule and generally over-thought all the options. I’m trying to just say YES! I have dear friend that lives what seems like in another state at times, but really is just an hour away. When she asked if I could meet halfway for a hike, I knew this was one of my times when I could just say “heck ya!” While I realize saying yes to everything may not in itself be the best thing, there is something about being self-aware of those “heck ya” moments that feels so dang good. I actually say “heck ya” out loud even if I’m alone at my desk while responding to an email. I just feels good! Try it!
This Heck Ya day led to seeing a beautiful part of the SF Bay Area I haven’t been to before. It led to a stunning 6.5 mile hike through green grassy hills, wildflower fields and along a happy little creek. It also ended up being a day of rejuvenation with an old friend. She even brought us a picnic lunch. I’m so glad I said HeckYa! What will you say “Heck Ya!” to this week?
More SF Bay Area hills to explore like Windy Hill, Muir Woods and Wunderlich County Park. What’s your favorite trail?
