Where to start? That’s the question I have been asking myself since returning from our recent trip to Costa Rica. We had such an amazing adventure I’m dying to share with you all, so in lieu of not knowing where to start, I’ll just begin. Truthfully, I’m having a difficult time sharing all the loveliness and beauty that is the Harmony Hotel. I secretly want to keep it all to ourselves and not share it with another person in the world. I suppose it was a similar feeling every time we spoke with another guest at the Harmony. Each and every one of them were returning regular guests that had once come for their very first visit to Nosara and vowed they’d return. They were likely wondering how we found it, considering the hotel is tucked away in a remote part of Costa Rica, in a town not heavily travelled by tourists, 4 hrs. from the main airport and more than an hour deep on a bumpy dirt road. The thing is, once you’ve lived it, you may not want anything else.
The hotel is uniquely balanced between the natural elements and luxury. Even in the ‘dry season’ when we visited, the gardens and property were lush, brimming with flora and wildlife. We were greeted openly and warmly upon our arrival and shown to our understated yet beautifully comfortable rooms. As we walked out to our private patio complete with outdoor shower, built-in seating lounge and consummate hammock, iguanas and monkeys were in the trees above.
The Harmony Hotel in itself is a little piece of paradise. On property there is an open air yoga studio, pool, bar, restaurant, and juice bar. The juice bar is it’s own slice of heaven with fresh juices, smoothies, salads, sandwiches and our favorite granola. Each time we walked over to the juice bar it felt like walking into a mediation center, simple beauty of the best kind. It was as if we were being modestly healed with every breath of flawless natural beauty. This nook of the property was a delight for the senses.
The hotel is in a small village called Playa Guiones, not far from Nosara on the west coast of Costa Rica. We spent much of our time at the Harmony on the beach and in the ocean. The beach is as long as the eye can see with flat sandy shores, few rocks or reef, and the most beautiful shells we’ve ever seen. The water was warm and welcoming with waves perfect for our family to surf, boogie board, body surf or just swim and play. The path from the Harmony that leads to the beach is overgrown with trees and full of lizards and butterflies.
This hotel is worth the extra effort it may take to reach. Our family had the most wonderful stay and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since we’ve left. The food was outstanding too. We especially enjoyed all the sushi and fish. We would not hesitate for a second to recommend this hotel, expect for the fact that we’d love to keep all to ourselves and exactly as it is.
Beautiful! that shot of Lucas is amazing
