Love + Etsy | Makes a Mudroom

It’s been a growing thing, my love for Etsy.  Why, one could find an artist or DIYer to create just about anything you could dream up and it’s likely already being sold on Etsy.  I first heard about Etsy, from my cousin Kate many many years ago when she had a shop for her beautiful paper products.  Since then, Etsy the site and my love for Etsy have grown exponentially!  I turn to Etsy for special gifts, one of a kind art, jewelry, or handmade anything.

I was so grateful to find Kari, from PrettyMod’s Etsy shop after many years of wanting to create sihouettes of my children, but not crafty confident enough to do it myself.  I wrote about the beautiful silhouettes hung in my family room last October.  While I was in love with the images, I wasn’t set on their frames or placement.  {*side note, thank you dear husband for putting up with me and our home decorating, organizing, constantly moving things around, it’s a habit I love and can’t/won’t break.}

I finally found the perfect place for them and wanted to share it with you!  We have a tiny little mudroom at the side entry to our house.  It is located right off the driveway which makes it so convenient.  When we did a little cosmetic remodel 4 years ago, I imagined our mudroom über organized + clean.  NEVER.  It has never and will never be completely organized and clean.  Pressure off people!  The mudrooms and family entryways you see on the web and in magazines have never seen 3 children, 2 adults, and a large dog.  They have never been the staging area for school backpacks and lunches, jackets for 5 in any season, ballet bags, basketballs, cleats, tennis rackets, dog leashes, baseball bags, keys {why can I never find my keys?}, scraves, shoes, the list is endless.

Ours never looks pretty.  BUT.  Now that my colorful happy silhouettes are hanging in there and greet me each time I walk through the door.

I am happy.

I can live with my forever organized, but utterly messy mudroom because these pops of cheery happy color say “Hello momma, you are home.” every.single.day.
