U-Pick Berry Farm – One of our favorite summer traditions opened this week. It’s the much anticipated arrival in our family for opening day of berry picking season. Our local U-pick announced the opening day at their farms this week. I can’t wait to head out their for a fun morning pick and sampling berries right off the vines. They are especially sweet when the morning sun warms them up. It a simple pleasure to see the kids with berry stained hands at the end of our gathering time. Our favorites to make with the baskets we haven’t devoured straight away, crisps, tarts, jams or simply macerated and topped off with fresh whipped cream. It’s the sweet taste of summer.
What are some of your family’s favorite summer traditions. We used to grow a garden, but have sadly given that up now that we travel each summer. It’s a small trade off for seeing the world with my tribe of 5. I do miss garden fresh tomatoes though. I’d love to know about your traditions or favorite U-pick berry farms!
On the SF Peninsula you can pick your own berries at Webb Ranch Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays 8am-1pm while the season lasts. Happy picking!
